The detail
How it works.
What is a made-to-measure suit?
A made-to-measure suit is made to your own measurements from an existing base pattern, adjusted for your posture and body shape. It is not a stock suit altered afterwards, and it is not built from scratch by hand — it sits between the two, which is why it suits most people.
How the Roomten process works
We talk through what you need, choose cloth and styling, take a full set of measurements and assess posture and fit. The garment is then made to that specification and fitted, with adjustments where necessary.
How much does a made-to-measure suit cost?
A two-piece is £899–£1,599 and a three-piece £1,199–£1,999. The range reflects the cloth: an everyday worsted sits at the lower end, a fine or rare cloth at the upper end.
How long does it take?
Approximately 6–8 weeks from start to finish under normal circumstances. Express services are available on request.
How many fittings are required?
Normally your measuring appointment and a fitting of the finished garment, with adjustments made where necessary. Bespoke includes additional fitting stages.
How are measurements taken?
By hand, in person. Alongside the measurements we look at posture — how you stand, how your shoulders sit, how you hold yourself — because that is what decides whether a jacket sits cleanly on the body.
How do I choose your cloth?
You choose from 6,000+ cloths, predominantly British and Italian mills. We start with how and when you will wear the suit, then narrow it down by weight, weave and colour rather than showing you every book in the room.
Can Roomten create particular styling details?
Lapel shape and width, button configuration, pockets, vents, linings, trouser details and finishing are all chosen by you. If you have seen something specific, bring a photograph.
Made-to-measure vs bespoke
Bespoke is individually constructed with a handmade floating canvas and additional fitting stages, from £2,999 for a two-piece. Made-to-measure gives you an individual fit and full choice of cloth and styling at a lower price and a shorter lead time. Read about bespoke.
