In short
A Roomten made-to-measure suit takes approximately 4–6 weeks from the first appointment to collection. Bespoke takes longer because of the additional fitting stages. For a wedding, allow three to four months so there is room for changes.
Most of the wait is making, not queueing. Once the pattern is altered and the cloth ordered, the garment is cut, made, pressed and finished — none of which can be usefully hurried.
The timeline
- Appointment: cloth, details and measurements, around an hour to ninety minutes.
- Pattern and cutting: your pattern is altered and the cloth cut.
- Making: the bulk of the 4–6 weeks.
- Fitting: adjustments marked and made.
- Collection: pressed, finished and yours.
What makes it longer
- A cloth that has to be woven or brought in from the mill.
- Bespoke construction, which adds fitting stages by design.
- Multiple garments ordered together.
- Substantial changes requested at the fitting.
If you are short of time
Tell us the date at the start rather than at the end. If it is tight we will steer you towards a cloth held in stock and a straightforward specification, and say plainly if the date is not realistic.
Ordering for a wedding
Book the first appointment three to four months out. That leaves time for a considered choice of cloth, a proper fitting, and any change of mind — and it keeps the last fortnight before the wedding free of tailoring.
