Ian Edward Wright or as most of us know him “Wrighty”, was born in 1963 and enjoyed success with Crystal Palace and Arsenal. With Arsenal he lifted the Premier League title, both major domestic trophies, and the European Cup Winners Cup. He played 581 league games, scoring 387 goals, earning 33 caps for England! Not bad for someone who entered the professional ranks of football relatively late.

And to cap it all, shortly after his retirement from playing in 2000, Wrighty was awarded the MBE for his services to football

Media and TV

After retiring from the game he has been active in the media and TV as a presenter. But we like Ian best as one of the most candid and knowledgeable footbal pundits around, shooting straight from the hip on programmes such as Match of the Day or ITV sport!

While he was still a professional footballer at Arsenal, Ian published his autobiography, Mr Wright and is also a columnist for The Sun

If you want to know more about Ian you must watch ITV4’s show “Nothing to Something” it is one of the best documentary’s you will ever watch, especially when he meets his former teacher and mentor! Don’t miss it!

Fashion and Style

I first met Ian before the World Cup in Brazil along with his stylist. They were both quite specific in what they wanted for Ian, the suit had to be smart and look good in front of the camera. But could also be worn casual, even dressed down with the jacket and a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. Light weight suit that would travel well.

Design – Two piece suit. The jacket is a classic two button with notch lapel but to give it a contemporary twist we edged the jacket with an olive green piping. The jacket and trousers were fitted and fairly slim but Ian also wanted room to move and feel comfortable. To compliment the suit we made a white shirt with contrasting collar and cuffs to match the suit fabric. Plus we made the tie from a darker beige cotton and linen fabric!

Fabric – British, 40% Worsted, 45% Linen, 15% Teclana. Weight 210 gm 6 1/2 oz. The fabric looks and feels like linen but the wool and especially the Teclana reduce the creasing effect you get naturally with linen. Light weight and great for the summer and hot climates.
